Davis County:

-- A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was found by Joel and Kathy Beyer at Garr Ranch
near the downed log across the pond on Sunday, September 9th.

-- A striking BLUE-HEADED VIREO was reported by Joel and Kathy Beyer at Garr
Ranch near the Spring House on Monday, September 3rd.  The bird has not been
seen since.

-- A LEAST FLYCATCHER was reported by Joel and Kathy Beyer at Garr Ranch near
the horseshoe pits on Monday, September 3rd.

-- An adult CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was reported by Arnold Smith, Keith Evans, and
John Bellmon at the first bridge on AIC on the south side, on Tuesday,
September 4th.




Iron County:

-- A 1st year NEOTROPIC CORMORANT was reported at Quichipa Reservoir/Lake just
west of Cedar City, on August 30th by Rick Fridell.  The bird has been seen as
recently as September 4th. To get to Quichipa take HWY 56 west out of Cedar
City to 6300 West (its several miles).  Turn LEFT and follow this road 1.4
miles to 1400 South.  Turn RIGHT and follow the road to th dead end which is
also the overlook on to the lake.  This is a potential 1st state record.




Morgan County:

-- A WHITE-WINGED DOVE was reported by Weston Smith at his yard feeder in
Croydon on Monday, September 3rd.  The bird has continued almost daily since.




San Juan County:

-- An apparent adult ZONE-TAILED HAWK was reported Ron Lambeth and his wife on
Thursday, September 4th soaring over the Devil's Canyon area.  This represents
a first report for San Juan County.




Salt Lake County:

-- A 1st winter PROTHONOTARY WARBLER was found by Colby Neuman and Tim Avery on
Saturday, September 8th. The bird was seen by Kris Purdy, Glenn Barlow and the
Sommerfeld's as well.  To get to the area where the bird was seen take the
Wright Borthers Drive Exit off of I-80 westbound and go north on Wright
brothers Drive, to 575 N. Harold Gatty Drive. The bird was seen on several
occasions in the Russian Olive at the SW corner of the intersection, but was
also observed in several other locations both north, south and east of this
area.  The bird was again observed on the morning of Sunday the 9th, and by
other observers into the afternoon.

-- A possible PHILADELPHIA VIREO was reported by Jack Binch and Bob Huntington
on Saturday, September 8th along the Jordan River Parkway at 5400 south and
1040 West.  Others were unable to relocate the bird on Sunday the 9th.




Utah County:

-- A GREAT-CRESTED FLYCATCHER was reported by Jack Rensel and Keith Evans on
Friday, September 7th at Camelot Woods.  The bird was seen along the Frontage
Road about 100 yards north of the entrance to the woods.




Washington County:

-- A female PURPLE FINCH was reported by Rick Fridell and Larry Tripp at Lytle
Ranch on Friday, September 7th.  The bird was seen in several places along the
road north from the orchard, but could not be relocated after the initial 
find.  This is the first reliable report of this species for Utah.

-- A LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCH was reported yet again by Bob Lawson at his backyard
feeder in Dammeron Valley on Monday, September 3rd.  At the end of March
earlier this year, Bob had a LAGO at his feeder.  The bird was seen again on
September 5th by Glenn Barlow and Tim Avery. If interested in looking for this

-- One immature RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was relocated by Rick Fridell and Larry
Tripp at Lytle Ranch on Friday, September 7th.

-- A ZONE-TAILED HAWK was reported by Tim Avery near Lava Point in Zion NP on
Tuesday, September 4th.

-- A bright female AMERICAN REDSTART was reported by Tim Avery at Tonaquit
Nature Preserve on Tuesday, September 4th.  The bird was also observed by Rick
Fridell and Glenn Barlow.

-- A female INDIGO BUNTING was reported by Glenn Barlow and Tim Avery at Lytle
Ranch on Wednesday, September 5th.  The bird was seen in the orchard.
