I have gotten approval to open the gates again for an after hours birding experience at Farmington Bay for next Wednesday evening Sept. 12th. I will be there by 6:00 to open the gates. This might be the last chance to do this before the Duck Hunt starts on Oct 1st.

FYI I saw several owls last time as I did my drive through to lock the gates. I saw several Short-eared-eared Owls a couple of Barn Owls and my first ever Great Horned Owl at Farmington Bay.

I was out there last night and saw Short-eared Owls at dusk again. We also saw Northern Harriers out in force hunting all the grassy areas, Swainson's Hawks, a Prairie Falcon, And Red-tailed Hawks as well as Kestrels. I did a Bird Study Merit Badge class and we had the required 20 species by sight and 5 species by sound in about 30 minutes.

Hope you can make it
Steve
