Box Elder County:
A juvenile STILT SANDPIPER was reported by Kris Purdy at Bear River NWR on
September 1st. The bird was seen in the southeast corner of Unit 2 with a
flock of Lesser Yellowlegs and was seen a mile and a half north of the
observation tower.
A female AMERICAN REDSTART was reported by Kris Purdy at Willard Bay State Park
on August 28th. The bird was seen over the stream channel south of the nature
trail parking lot.
Davis County:
A RED-EYED VIREO was reported by Arnold and Aaron Smith at Garr Ranch on
September 1st.
A SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was reported by Tim Avery in the Marina at Antelope
Island State Park on August 30th.
Iron County:
A 1st year NEOTROPIC CORMORANT was reported at Quichipa Reservoir/Lake just west
of Cedar City, on August 30th by Rick Fridell. The bird has been seen as
recently as September 2nd. To get to Quichipa take HWY 56 west out of Cedar
City to 6300 West (its several miles). Turn LEFT and follow this road 1.4
miles to 1400 South. Turn RIGHT and follow the road to th dead end which is
also the overlook on to the lake. This is a potential 1st state record.
An adult BALD EAGLE was reported at Quichipa Reservoir/Lake just west of Cedar
City, on August 30th by Rick Fridell.
Washington County:
A LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCH was reported yet again by Bob Lawson at his backyard
feeder in Dammeron Valley on Monday, September 3rd. At the end of March
earlier this year, Bob had a LAGO at his feeder. This may or may not be the

One immature RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was relocated by Jack Binch at Lytle Ranch on
August 31st.
