Hi,

Things were not looking good. The group I was with on Friday was
unsuccessful. I birded with Lu and Dennis on Saturday evening and they spotted the bird
five minutes after I left. I went over to talk to Ed, and he had seen the
bird fifteen minutes before I got there. I went back Sunday morning with the
resolve to stay all day if necessary. I started early on the east side and may
have dismissed the bird as a coot on the wire. I went over to the west side
where Steve and Cindy saw the bird and my heart sank as I watched fifty or so
leave. They went up quite high and seemed to be leaving the area. I then went
back to the area that Lu and Dennis had spotted it. Few cormorants and the sun
was really bad to look into and try to see any facial color. Back to the
east side. A group was there and Larene asked if I had seen the bird. Noooo. But
they had it in their scopes. Whew, I thought I was out of luck. Thanks to
the Beyers, David Wheeler and Larene Wyss. I guess the third time is the charm.
BTW, it was 10:00 when I got to see it.
