I received a phone call form Ed Leite around 11:30 this morning about the fate
of the Grebe. Ed was headed to Washington County so couldn't do much about the
bird. I tried to get a hold of a few people to see if someone could collect
the bird and preserve it till it could be given to one of the universities as a
specimen. Although it is ILLEGAL to collect the carcass of a dead migratory
bird, for the purposes of science I wouldn't object to someone grabbing the
bird and getting it to BYU, or the U of U... I recall a certain jaeger in
05'....

In any event, I hope someone can get this bird to one of the schools. IF you do
get it, wrap it in a newspaper, then seal it in a bag, so that as little air as
possible can get to he bird, then put it in the deep freeze til you can get it
to a pro!

Cheers
