Having had some luck here recently I decided to try it again this
evening. All the usual suspects were present including the WESTERN
SCREECH OWL back in the same place. I watched him wake up and fly off
again as the day disappeared. Also of note was an IMMATURE GOLDEN
EAGLE and an - appropriately named in this case - lone TOWNSEND'S
SOLITAIRE.
The Golden was located on the electric wire pole up by I-80 directly
up and North of the Western Screech Owl tree. If you stand right in
front of the Owl tree and look up and behind it you should see a
electric pole up by the freeway. You can hike up there by going back
around the bridge. It is a bit steep but I made it up and got some
good video of the Golden. If you think watching it eat will make you
squeamish, consider yourself warned. Sorry for the hand rocking blair
witch project effect and the low quality of a compressed youtube
video.
