Just returned from walking our dogs in Parley's Nature (and dog) park in SLC. A Western Screech owl was enjoying the sun as he perched at the entrance of an old flicker hole right beside the creek. Walk down the road to enter the park, turn left onto the path just before the bridge. Stop about 5 yards before reaching the cement wall visible on left side of path. Owl tree is on opposite side of creek. I saw one in this same hole 3 years ago in early December.
Other birds include many jays, with Stellar's outnumbering the Scrub, juncos, white-crowned and Song sparrows, flickers, chickadees, Lesser Goldfinch, House Finch, 2 R-C Kinglets, a Red-tail being harassed by a Kestral. Very pleasant walk on a beautiful sunny day.
