[Birdtalk] A Reservoir Run

I birded seveal reservoirs--East Canyon, Rockport, and Echo--along the
Wasatch Back in Morgan and Summit Counties today. The highlights:

Surprise CASSIN'S and Warbling Vireos (one of each) in the spruce trees in
front of the restaurant at East Canyon Resort.

One Osprey at East Canyon and two at Echo.

A handful of Common Loons, all adults molting into basic plumage, at East
Canyon and Echo; none at Rockport.

A juvenile Caspian Tern still begging from an adult at East Canyon.

One Herring Gull with the usual flock of California and Ring-bills at the
southwest corner of Rockport Reservoir. The gull was a fourth summer molting
into adult basic and looked like a behemoth when it flew up behind the
California Gulls. It also seemed to be a late molter as it still had a
nearly pure white head.

I finally figured out why the gulls amass at the southwest corner of
Rockport; anyone who already knows this is welcome to say "Duh, Kris!"
There's a Summit County Landfill across the road (west) in Three Mile
Canyon.
