I just counted 13 Cedar Waxwings in my flowering crabapple tree. That's only what I counted, they keep flitting about so I'm sure there at least twice that many in my yard--if not more! The tree is filled with birds and they're gulping down the pea-sized apples with gusto. What alerted us to their presence was a loud "thump" on the window. One of the CW's had flown into the window. The bird was dazed, but fine. It seems like every 3-4 years we get inundated with inebriated Cedar Waxwings. The birds eat fermenting fruit and then fly into the windows. (This is in spite of hanging things on and in front of the windows to hopefully prevent such accidents.) So far today, they're behaving themselves and entertaining my family. We're on the bench of Pleasant Grove, Utah Co.
