This morning I drove up to Gaurdsman's Pass and hiked up to Jupiter Peak to see
if any hawks were moving. Unfortunately, the wind was gusting to 40MPH, and
the only hawk seen was an adult Red-tailed Hawk.
However, numerous mountain birds were seen flying past me on the crest. The
highlight was a flock of 11 PINE GROSBEAK that came flying by headed southeast.
Previously I had never seen more than 1 PINE GROSBEAK at a time in the
Brighton area, so seeing such a large group moving together was refreshing.
Several RED CROSSBILL flew by as well as a couple flocks of PINE SISKIN, and
CASSIN'S FINCHES.
At Silver Lake the birds were sparse. I saw no Sparrow's, but there was a YRWA,
as well as a couple Kinglets hanging out in the willows, and not a whole lot
else.
Cheers
