[Birdtalk] hummingbirds in the garage

We always have a few hummingbirds visit our feeders throughout the day. Probably averaging one or two every couple hours. We've had a number of them do their swooping/diving figure 8 courtship dance, too. Very cool! I'd say this is a typical year here (Pleasant Grove) for hummers.
What's unususal is that we've already had to rescue two of them from our garage. I've had one trapped in there every couple years, but this was two in two weeks! There's a lot of construction going on in the foothills which has been hummer habitat; perhaps they've been forced a bit lower and are unfamiliar with human houses?
When I say trapped, they fly in the garage and then fly up against a window, thinking it's their ticket to freedom. They are so focused they will not fly around and go back out the door. I've had to catch them by hand and release them. So far, no casualties, but I don't know how long one of these little guys would last if it inadvertently spent the night. Would it starve?
