[Birdtalk] Utah Co. Scott's oriole

Dennis Shirley and I spent a few hours this morning visiting Salem Pond,
Genola and Goshen, Elberta, and the Lake Mountains on the southwest end
of Utah Lake. Trip highlights include the following:

- a Scott's oriole was seen flying in the Soldier's Pass area, about 15
miles north of Elberta and 5 miles west of Highway 68 at about 11 a.m.
We believe this is a first-of-county report for this species, but we're
both old and have crummy memories so perhaps we are mistaken on this
point.
- a juvenile northern goshawk was observed in the Genola Warm Springs
area
- a peregrine falcon was observed on the ground, about 600 yards north
of the Genola Warm Springs area and about 1/2 mile east of Goshen
- bobolinks  - well ok, a bobolink but we're sure there are more either
on the way or hidden in the grass - were seen in the area about 2 miles
north of Goshen Elementary school
- gray vireos, gray flycatchers, black-throated gray warblers, and lark
sparrows were also seen in the Lake Mountains
- an American crow was seen and heard at Salem pond, and a
double-crested cormorant was also observed
- a burrowing owl was seen in Elberta
- a first-of-year lazuli bunting was seen in Elk Ridge
