Box Elder County:

-- A possible female ORCHARD ORIOLE was reported from Lucin on May 19th.
The bird was observed for just a few seconds and was not
positively ID'd in the field. Tim Avery reported the bird, and Tom
Neuman was the other observer. Lucin is located in the west desert
about 47 miles north of Wendover.

-- 2 American Redstarts were reported by Colby Neuman and Tim Avery
while conducting a survey on private land in the West Desert. The migrant
warblers were seen in two different tracts of "forest". Both a male and
a female bird were observed on the 18th.

-- 3 Northern Waterthrush were reported by Colby Neuman and Tim Avery.
Two birds were seen while conducting a survey on private land in the
West Desert.
The migrant warblers were seen in two different tracts of "forest" on
the 18th. The 3rd bird was observed by Tom and Colby Neuman and Tim
Avery at Lucin
on May 19th.

Garfield County:

-- A male Vermilion Flycatcher was reported by Lu Giddings on the Posey
Lake road about 5 miles north of Escalante on May 18th.
The bird was frequenting a field immediately along the west of the road
and about 150 yards north of the Roundy's home.

Wasatch County:

-- An American Redstart was seen by Tim Avery at the Jordanelle
Mitigation site below Jordanelle Reservoir on May 14th.
To get to the reclamation area turn off of hwy. 40 onto hwy. 32 below
Jordanelle Reservoir. Take the first left and travel
to the 2nd public access road on the left. (there are two stone pillars
here). You can park in the loop here and then walk
to the boardwalk to the north of the parking area. From here it was
about 200 feet to where the bird was seen.

-- The Bobolinks have returned to Potter Lane in Heber and were reported
by Ned Bixler on May 13th. This is one of the most reliable
locations in the state for this species and can be reached from HWY 40
in Heber Valley. Potter Lane is just south of the intersection of
40 and 32 below Jordanelle, on the west side of the road. The birds were
hanging out in a field on the north side of the lane about .6 miles
from 40. Listen for their unique bubbling song and flight displays.

-- A Common Grackle was reported by Ned Bixler on May 13th in
Charleston. Tim Avery visited the Charleston City Park on the 14th and
found 3
grackles hanging out in the conifers. Charleston is on the east edge of
Deer Creek Reservoir.
