This is a somewhat urgent notice for those planning to participate on the UOS-sponsored field trip to the Uintas, Daggett County and Ouray NWR. Because of the heavy involvement of construction workers and oil field people, practically all the motel rooms in Vernal are taken over by these folks. The various companies are booking rooms for their workers for weeks and months at a time. We were unable to find any rooms with 2 beds for Friday, June 1, when we'll be coming back down from the Flaming Gorge area. There may be a few rooms with a single king- or queen-sized bed.

However, inasmuch as we will not be going to the Stewart WMA in Jensen due to it's being closed during breeding season, we can go on to Roosevelt Friday night. This is just a half-hour west of Vernal, and it is the same distance from Roosevelt to the Ouray NWR Saturday a.m., as it is from Vernal. There are only 3 motels in Roosevelt, but the Frontier Motel does have some rooms still available. The Western Hills Motel doesn't, and I didn't try the Best Western Inn. Frontier is 435-722-2201. Best Western - 435-722-4644. The Western Hills Motel said they might have a room available on June 1 but they won't know till June 1 - so, we'll forget that option.

So -- if any are planning on this trip, please make your reservations now.

Again, if you are planning to attend this trek, please notify Steve Carr so we know who is coming.
