Saw a couple new arrivals in the county this afternoon while golfing at
Mick Riley in Murray. Along one of the ponds at the course was a
Spotted Sandpiper. I heard several Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and saw a
lone Gray Catbird skulking near another pond.
Also had Yellow Warblers which were present last weekend as well.
Yesterday while on N. Temple. near Redwood Road I had 3 Swainson's Hawks
soaring at about 600 feet. The birds appeared to be riding a thermal as
they were circling, getting higher and moving northward.
And this morning on the ponds at 2100 South and I-15 there were at least
6 Forster's Terns, 3 American White Pelican and about 1,000 Cliff
Swallows that appear to be making a colony under one of the tall over
passes.
Good Birding
