[Birdtalk] composting seed hulls?

Since we've been discussing birdseed, I have a question.
Even though the hulls don't really decompose, can you still compost them?
We have a lot of feeders going here and generate a lot of seed hulls.
(While sweeping up after the winter, I have nearly a 5 gallon bucket full
of them.) I've added them to my compost, but they don't really break
down. I figure, to a certain point, they'll add bulk to my soil (garden
fiber???) but I'm wondering if there is a better way.
