Hi All,
We ran over to the Pelican-Ouray Refuge area for the morning. No swallows,
stilts, or blue-winged teal noted yet, but lots of other stuff. Annual
firsts included Yellow-headed blackbird, Horned grebe, dowitchers,
yellowlegs, cormorant, Sage thrasher. We only saw two eagles, one each
Golden and Bald. The Green River is coming up pretty fast. If you stop to
look at birds in this area, be sure to get completely off the road, and then
still watch out! Really big, crazy oilfield trucks drag race here. We saw
one semi-trailer today blow at least two tires, and keep right on going down
the road out of sight, shedding fragments, in a cloud of smoke and dust.
