It is very exciting to have kestrels show up just on schedule and move into
our new kestrel box in the back yard.

We put it up a week ago, and after a few days when we thought we would just
have starlings, a tercel showed up and started defending the perimeter. Norm
Nelson had built the box and said to watch for the male to catch a mouse and
try to lure a female with it. I only had to wait one day! He flew around
the box w/ the mouse and finally let her eat it in a tree nearby while he
dived directly to the hole to show her the way in. Today, she's still here
and very happy with the digs. They are both coming and going, I guess
working on decorating.
