I had the opportunity to spend about three hours early this afternoon in
Tropic and Cannonville. The snow is all gone, the ground is dry, and it
was mostly warm and beautiful. People don't seem to be particularly
accustomed to birders. But aside from being stopped and questioned at
length by one man and having a woman call the Sheriff on me, it wasn't
too bad an afternoon. Best bird of the trip was a merlin that was both
very photogenic and cooperative. Birds of note would include the 6-12
Eurasian collared-doves observed in Tropic.
