Steve et al:

Rich Hansen returned my call just minutes after he spoke to Steve this morning. I asked Rich, on behalf of the birding community, if he could leave the gate open at Goose Egg Island until Monday so those who wish to go gulling this weekend can do so. He agreed because it's still early in the season and the recent round of storms has delayed the Canada Goose nesting activity.

So gullers, you'll find the gates open and the seasonal closure that Steve describes below will be delayed until Monday.

Also, it would be a great idea for birders who take advantage of the open gates to call the Farmington Bay phone number and leave a message of thanks for the special privilege. Make sure you identify yourself as a birder. The number is 1-801-451-7386.

Kris

This is an FYI, I talked to Rich, the manger at Farmington Bay this morning he told me he will be locking the gate at Goose Egg island today until August 1, there was a question whether the gate would be open on March 10 Swan Day, he said it will be.

  Happy Birding
  Steve
