[Birdtalk] Common backyard birds becoming less common

As far as I can tell, mountain bluebirds and starlings do not compete
with each other for nesting sites, because they live in different
environments.

I might spend a day birding in the mountains and see a hundred
mountain bluebirds and never see a starling all day long. The next
day birding in urban or agricultural areas I'll see a dozen starlings
and never see a mountain bluebird.

The bluebirds live in high (cold) mountains near forests, while starlings
live at low elevations near humans. Once in a while I see a starling
and a mountain bluebird in the same day, but only where a
city has been built in the mountains.

Regards,
Joseph
