[Birdtalk] A Flock of Turkey Vultures, etc.

Friday, June 8, I went birding west of Springville. Making the last
westward turn toward Lincoln Beach, I saw something I had never seen
before: a flock of a dozen turkey vultures scattered along the edge
of a pond. I got a picture of some of them, sort of. Across the
street in another puddle were several Whitefaced Ibis, some Wilson's
Phalaropes, and a Snowy Egret.

Another noteworthy sight: on "4000 West", at the extreme north end, I
found a Willow Flycatcher in the top of a Russian olive tree, singing
his "RITZbew" with gusto. There I also heard (but never saw) three
different Sora and a Virginia Rail, along with the usual shorebirds
and ducks. A Black-crowned Nightheron has taken to sitting on the
road the last few days.
