Here is the list of birds Stephanie Cobbold and I saw between the fee
booth and the Fielding Garr Ranch on Antelope Island. This list is in
the order we saw them, not taxonomic order.
Red-winged Blackbird
Mourning Dove
California Gull
White-faced Ibis
American Avocet
Black-necked Stilt
Willet
Barn Swallow
Eared Grebe
Killdeer
Brewer's Blackbird
Canada Goose
Red-necked Phalarope
Double-crested Cormorant
Western Meadowlark
Chuckar
Burrowing Owl
European Starling
Horned Lark
Common Raven
Northern Harrier
Western Kingbird
Lark Sparrow
Brown-headed Cowbird
American Robin
Song Sparrow
Swainson's Thrush
(unidentified Empidonax flycatcher)
Yellow-headed Blackbird
American Kestrel
American Goldfinch
MacGillivray's Warbler
Great Horned Owl
American White Pelican
Gadwall
We also saw the carcasses of dozens of Northern Shovelers and American
Avocets along the causeway. We were told at the visitor's center that
these died in an outbreak of avian botulism in the fall.
