Hi all,
I went on a hike up Neff's Canyon (Salt Lake Co.) on Saturday afternoon for
a couple hours. Several VIRGINIA'S WARBLERS and LAZULI BUNTINGS were
singing on the west facing Gambel's Oak hillsides. We hiked up towards the
north chute on Mt. Olympus where a WINTER WREN was singing both on the way
up and down the canyon. Also, several DUSKY, one HAMMOND'S and several
CORDILLEREAN FLYCATCHERS were all heard singing in the canyon as well.
Yesterday while climbing just upcanyon of the quarry in Little Cottonwood
Canyon, I watched a WHITE-THROATED SWIFT repeatedly fly within 20 feet of me
while it appeared to be picking bugs off the granite wall. It was
definitely pretty cool to watch and it's not something I've seen before.
