Farmington Bay:
A pair of Blue-winged Teal are still hanging out in the pond just north of the buildings (bathroom and classroom) near the entrance. A Common Yellowthroat is singing daily from the dense phragmites patch on the S side of the road just before the "eagle trees". A Willet is hanging out on a post on the N side of the road just after the bridge across the creek and before Egg Island. Snowy Egrets and W-F Ibis are usually along the entrance road as well. The GBH rookery is still sporting young of multi ages, making for interesting watching at the corner by Glover Ponds. If you're patient, several other birds are regulars there: coots, pied-billed grebes, and Canada Geese with young; Redheads; Ruddy Ducks; Cormorants; Black-necked Stilts are often there, but in small numbers; Pelicans typically are feeding in the mornings and may be hanging out on the islands at other times. Forster's Terns are regulars, either sitting on posts or "duck nest structures" or "fishing." Killdeer and avocets have already produced young and moved on, but adults are often seen. Yellow-headed blackbirds are ubiquitous and add to the sound backdrop. In early morning, a female Harrier is often on a post by the road as you approach. Western Kingbirds are all along Glover Ln.
