Spent 4 scorching hot days in San Juan County this week. Temps topped out in
the 100's everyday, and bird life was rather scarce. A lot of fledged birds
chirping in the trees, and bouncing on the ground. Lucy's Warbler,
Ash-throated Flycatcher, Yellow Warbler, Lesser Goldfinch, Black-throated
Sparrow and Gambel's Quail young were all seen. The highlight of the week was
an adult male INDIGO BUNTING in Montezuma Creek Canyon this morning, 07/12.
The bird was seen about a 1/2 mile from where one was seen a month ago during a
survey.
I checked for Black Phoebes at the abandoned farm pond in Montezuma Creek
Canyon, hoping to see young, but found no adults or young. There was a
CASSIN'S KINGBIRD hanging out at the pond.
Lots of bugs, and a few other creatures. This toad was photographed near Halls
Crossing:

And these "fence lizards" were photographed at Montezuma Creek Canyon:

On Sunday while driving down, I enjoyed sweet sunset south of Moab, as the smoke
make the sun bright pink...
