On the Bridgerland Audubon field trip this morning to Tony Grove Lake (near Beaver Mountain) we saw two Rufous Hummingbirds on the west side of the lake and another beautiful male Rufous Hummingbird at the humming bird feeders at the caretakers campsite in Lewis Turner campground (near the turnoff to Tony Grove). Some of the other birds we saw today were Black-chinned Hummingbirds, Broad-tailed Hummingbird, Red-crossbill, Western Tanager, Spotted Sandpiper, Western-wood Peewee, Violet-green Swallow, Tree Swallow, Lazuli Bunting, Mountain Chickadee, House Wren, Pine Siskin, Lincoln Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow, Mountain Bluebird, Turkey Vulture, and Red-tailed Hawk. I was surprised that we did not see, or hear, a Clark's Nutcracker. It was really great to escape the heat in the lower elevations.
Thanks.
