Hi Folks -

We're off and running again this year with another bunch of young peregrine falcons.

Two of the four kids have left the nest box. The first to go was Butch. He flew early Saturday morning, June 30th, before any of the watch team arrived. He landed on the roof of the administration building which is east of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building where the box is mounted.

He tried to fly on Sunday afternoon, but came down. He was taken up to the "beehive" on the JSMB so he could try again. He immediately took off and came down again. He has been checked out by the rehabber and given a clean bill of health and will be put back up on the beehive at 9:00 on Monday morning.

The second bird, Gabby (sex undetermined), flew early Sunday morning - again, no witnesses. She also went to the administration building which is where she still was when the watch team called it a day.

If any of you can spare some time, we can always use extra help to try to keep these guys safe. Our job is to keep our eyes on the birds in case they go down. It is particularly problematic this year with four young ones.

Come on down and join the fun. E-mail me privately for further information.

Thanks -

Pomera Fronce
