Message: Today, Sun., 1/28, I looked for the HARRIS'S SPARROW that was seen on Friday at Willard Bay State Park, at Willow Creek Campground Campsite #15. Unfortunately, I could not find it, nor could I locate any of the 2 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS that had been previously seen at Campsite #1. The cracked corn & millet that was around Campsite #15 was almost completely gone, but 30 White-crowned Sparrows were still hanging around. I also found 60-70 White-crowned Sparrows, 1-2 Spotted Towhees, 5+ Song Sparrows, and 30 House Sparrows at Willow Creek Campsite #1, where a more recent offering of cracked corn and millet was strewn on the ground. Birders looking for the either the Harris's or White-throated Sparrows might do well to check this location.
I also checked Paradise Cemetery (before reading Jim's post) for Sharp-tailed Grouse, but with no luck-and now I know why!
Craig.
