Glover Ponds at Farmington Bay WMA in Davis County offered a nice diversity of waterfowl this morning including:
Canada Geese, including a pair that have claimed the nest platform in the center
Gadwall
Mallards
CINNAMON TEAL (two drakes and a hen)
Northern Shovelers
Northern Pintails
Canvasbacks
Redheads
Ring-necked Ducks
Buffleheads
Common Goldeneyes
Great Blue Herons on the heron trees
American Coots
Be on the watch for an interesting drake Gadwall. This bird showed a complete black ring around its neck just under the throat. The ring was not any kind of manmade marking; it was black feathering in a nicely distinguished ring. It gave an otherwise common bird an uncommon panache.
