This afternoon as I fulfilled my hour a day of birding for the remainder of
the year, I decided to watch birds from the comfort of my parents hot tub in
Sugarhouse. As I was admiring the berries in their hawthorne and wondering
why they haven't had Bohemian Waxwings yet I caught some movement through
the tree. As the bird came into sight I stared at a large accipiter as it
powered its way 15 feet off the ground and directly over my head before
continuing up the block. I was very pleased as the bird was a juvenile
NORTHERN GOSHAWK, only the 2nd time I have seen one at their house, the last
being almost 10 years ago and an adult bird. This capped off the best day I
have had from their yard in recent history when I had 16 species yesterday
morning seen from the front window of the house. Despite numerous flocks of
Cedar Waxwings over the last 2 weeks I have only had Bohemian's about 3
blocks away... Keeping my fingers crossed for that new yard bird!

Below is a list from yesterday morning.
