[Birdtalk] Draper- Hawks & Owls

Today I drove past a corn stubble field on 3rd East between the Draper Post office and 

Juan Diego High School (about 120th South).?? The field is on the west side - directly 

behind the post office.
?

Was surprised to see at least 9 Red-Tailed Hawks (and 2 cats) working the field.? Must be a 

rodent problem!.?? I' ve never seen so many hawks in such a small field.? I'm guessing it 

must be less than 10 acres.


Knowing there must be a great food supply, I just had to drive past tonight at dusk to see if 

any owls showed up.
?

Sure enough.? One Barn owl working the field decided to perch on a fence post right along 

3rd East.? I blocked traffic for an incredible view.?? Also saw a darker owl briefly- possible 

Short Eared.
