I made a dash up to Howell (exit off I-84 12 miles after Tremonton)
today. I found a flock of about 12 horned lark feeding next to the
road at 13600 N. This is a road about 4 miles from the exit off I-84
and about a mile north of the Pheasant Valley Huntiing preserve. There
was a dusting of snow on the ground and they were feeding amongst the
grasses.
On the way back I pulled into the Flying J at Willard and found 3
grackle (I think great tailed cause the tail was at least as long as
the body). Then I continued on home and stopped at the Target in
Centerville and 3 more grackle perched on posts in the parking lot.
These had the distinctive groove down the tail so I assume they are
common grackle.
Yes I beat the incoming snow storm
Cheers.
