Hi all,

Here's a link to a photo of the Reddish Egret at Fish Springs NWR...

Also, Fish Springs NWR funding was decreased a while ago, and they no longer
have an employee with the time to perform bird counts. I know Jay Banta and
future refuge managers would greatly appreciate it if you would send a list
of birds you see and approximate numbers of each species to the refuge
either by email or fax. Thanks.

I drove out to the west desert last night, and I arrived at camp at around
2:30am. A couple COMMON NIGHTHAWKS called and performed their diving
display from the night sky above camp. A few mosquitoes kept me up for a
bit, and as a result, I actually ended up hearing several nocturnal migrants
fly over. All calls went into the generic high seeps/zips category, but I
assume these were birds that had come from the Raft River Mtns or points
northward given the time of night and the average speed of small passerine
migrants. I think I will once again be heading up into the Avenues and
other points around the Wasatch Front to start listening for nocturnal
migrants in the next week or so in case anyone wants to come along.
