Last night Kent and I sat outside and our nesting Kingbirds are home. Just
the male (?) right now, but he has already been checking out the Spruce
where they nest every year. We were really hoping we would have a hummer or
even an oriole, but no go.
This morning before it was even light the male Bullocks was making his
chchchchch sound when Kent went to pick up his paper. He has already
visited the feeder a couple of times and he is in full breeding plumage.
When Kent was watching for him to come back, we had our first Black Chinned
of the season, on the feeder!
Three of the kids home within 24 hours.
It makes me feel all misty.
(I know most of you are serious birders, but our favorite times are sitting
in the yard watching the "kids" and seeing them bring their friends over.
We do get some awesome backyard birds.... and some not so awesome backyard
birds.)
