[Birdtalk] Western Sandpiper & LB Dowitcher - Cache Valley

Yesterday evening I saw my first of the year Western Sandpipers (two) and Long-billed Dowitchers (four) on the mudflats near the Logan City Polishing Ponds. The dowitchers are several weeks later than normal, but the sandpipers arrived at their normal time. There are fewer mud flats around the central part of the valley. I believe it is the combination of a very dry winter and the farmers have done a lot in the off season to drain their fields (fill dirt and ditches).
Thanks.
