Yesterday morning Dennis Shirley and I managed to sneak away for a few
hours to check the southeast end of Utah Lake. Water levels were
generally high and birds were everywhere. Warblers and other small
passerines were not observed, although we bumped into Jack Binch who had
a similar lack of luck on River Lane. While no rarities were observed,
noteworthy birds included:
- a pair of blue-winged teal and a lone cattle egret were seen about a
mile west of River Lane; soras were also heard in this area
- northern mockingbirds were seen in the River Lane and Swede's Lane areas
- a lone solitary sandpiper was seen in the Swede's Lane area

The birds seem to know that Spring is here. now if Mother Nature and the
weather would only cooperate.
