[Birdtalk] Shorebirds on Saturday

Colby Neuman and I ventured out onto the causeway last night between 5
and 8 pm to look for some shorebirds. We had several FOY arrivals, as
well as the birds mentioned by Carol. Here are some numbers:
500~ Black-bellied Plover (about 400 yards north of MM 6 and a few to
the southeast of the causeway at the same spot)
200~ Willet
50~ Sanderling (FOY)
13 - Western Sandpiper (FOY)
1 - SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER (Brief look at the bird, which flew before
Colby was able to get a good look at it)
4 - Marbled Godwit
4 - Wilson's Phalarope
250~ American Avocet
300-400~ unidentified peeps
200~ Birds that were likely Sanderling but way too far out to be sure.
Also had a few flyovers including: Franklin's Gulls, White-faced Ibis,
Double-crested Cormorant and a flock of about 30 Black-bellied Plover.
