Subject: [Birdtalk] Odd Duck at Farmington Bay

Hi Folks - On Friday, Kent Lewis and I made a quick trip to Farmington Bay. We were on Egg Island looking north when we spotted an odd duck in the water closest to the island. It was roughly the size of the Gadwalls it was hanging out with. Forgive me for not providing a real detailed description, but you'll know this guy when you see him. He is overall gray-brown with a dark bill and a dull rust-colored head. There is a very evident cream-colored strip that goes from the base of the bill back to the neck, but not all the way around the neck. The other feature that is very noticeable is a white half-collar on the throat which is best seen face on. If anyone sees this duck and has any ideas, please let us know. Pomera and Kent _______________________________________________
