Yesterday I decided to head up to Antelope Island to hike the highest point, Frary Peak. I brought some friends along who were non birders and not very patient. So I decided to leave the bird gear at home. Foolish me. Anyhow there was plenty of things to be viewed from the causway, but was unable to stop and look. We got to the trailhead of Frary Peak and was greeted by a Golden Eagle. First one I have ever seen on the island. While hiking the trail I saw plenty of Rock Wrens and Meadowlarks, Chukars, Ravens, Northern Harriers and other desert species. But I was suprised as I was nearing the summit to see Juniper Titmice in the few Junipers that grow up there. It was also a first for the island and was kinda suprised to find them up there. It was a beautiful hike, Next time I will for sure bring the birding gear and make the friends learn patience.
