Bill:
Thanks for the new IBWO lead. As the Choctawhatchee River in the Florida
Panhandle flows into the Gulf of Mexico, this river in all probability is
the one Mary Scott refers to on her website (www.birdingamerica.com
<http://www.birdingamerica.com/> ) , where she mentions a colony of 9 pairs.
Given this, it is odd that the Auburn crew have not displayed any photos (to
my knowledge).
It is reassuring that the new IBWO discovery area apparently lies within the
Northwest Florida Water Management District
(http://www.nwfwmd.state.fl.us/), which comprises 200,000 protected acres.
Here are some additional links FYI:

I have boated through the nearby Okefenokee Swamp in GA. This area must
also be considered a possible site for rediscovery of IBWOs.

Check out this web page for recent reports of IBWO sightings. My brother is
President of the local Choctawhatchee Audubon Chapter in the Florida
Panhandle. The chapter is named after this river where the sightings have
reportedly been made.
