Hi all,
I may try listening for night migrants from Ensign Peak or another hill
above the Avenues tonight. The relatively and unsually low cloud deck
(between 6500-8000ft) means any migrants will be migrating lower than usual
tonight. Given the unsettled weather they may not migrate at all. However,
the winds, which will be 5-15kts from the surface through 10,000ft will be
from the NNW so they appear to be favorable for migrants to 'want' to fly
tonight. On nights with low clouds in upstate New York there always seemed
to be way more migrant flight calls for several likely reasons. Anyway, let
me know if you would be interested in coming along (598-4367) or maybe just
take 30 minutes tonight and listen from your backyard for any seeps, zips,
etc.. Let me know what you hear!
Colby
