Message: Summer is over (does it really ever end here?) and just a quick note on our hummingbird feeder observations.

We had numerous Black-chinned and few Rufous Hummingbirds through the year, but we have not seen any for the past few weeks, they appear to have left.

It has been the orioles that have put on a show. Through the summer we have had mostly Bullock's but also regular visits from a Hooded(s). There was a nesting Bullock's in a larger Cottonwood right by us and at one time had 5 females/juveniles? at the feeder. But we have also had 3 male Bullock's at the feeder at the same time.

It appears that the Bullocks have left, but the Hooded(s)are still around. Saw a male yesterday and again this morning at the feeder. Still appears to be in breeding plumage. There are also a few females/juveniles orioles coming by. I assume they are Hoodeds, not really sure.

What a show! The feeder is 2 feet from our window, risky I know but we have had no window impacts.
