A light-phased GYRFALCON has been reported in Central Idaho in the
PAHSIMEROI RIVER VALLEY near Ellis, ID.

>From IBLE:

I just returned from a trip to the Pahsimeroi Valley (Lemhi/Custer
County Line), but we remained inside Lemhi County. We saw four Bald
Eagles, three Golden Eagles, twelve Rough-Legged Hawks, and two
Merlins among the early winter birds. The major highlight, however,
is clearly a light Gyrfalcon at the point where Ennis Gulch leaves
the mountains, on November 18. He stayed in the immediate area, and
was observed each time we passed through. Caution is warranted,
however, because we have seen Prairie Falcons in this area in the
past.

He is unmistakable, however, if care is taken.

One other unexpected observation was an immature-plumage Sandhill
Crane in a pasture southeast of May, also on November 18. He was
about 75 yards from the highway, but showed no disturbance from the
stopped vehicle. It is possible that he is unable to fly.

Finally, another unexpected sighting was a Coot in the pond
immediately adjacent to the old Sunbeam Dam, on November 19. This is
the latest date for me at this elevation.

Good Birding.
