Bill and I were hiking in Rattlesnake Gulch this morning. Around noon
I heard a sound that I did not recognize, so stopped to look. I could
see movement on some nearby rocks and thought at first that it could
be a Rock Wren, but when I looked through my binoculars it was
clearly a Canyon Wren, the rufous back and tail plus the white throat
were distinctive. Then I saw another Canyon Wren nearby. I should add
that it was the call of the Canyon Wren that I did not recognize. I
do know the song of the Canyon Wren :-)

Rattlesnake Gulch is 1.5 miles from the mouth of Millcreek Canyon,
off Wasatch Drive in Salt Lake City. The birds were seen on the right
about 100 yards beyond the "Welcome to Rattlesnake Gulch" map. (In
case you were wondering we did not see any rattlesnakes!)
