The following was posted yesterday on the San Diego Birds list serve and
may be of interest to Utah birders in light of the reported roseate
spoonbill sighting last month at Farmington Bay. To be comprehensive I
should note that the first spoonbill reported at Salton Sea and posted
on the SD list was reported less than a week after its Utah sighting.
Who knows? Maybe there really was a spoonbill here.

On Sunday at the southern end of the Sonny Bono Wildlife Refuge
near
Westmorland, I had 3 roseate spoonbills feeding a good ways out in
the
shallows at the end of Bowles Rd. The ranger at the refuge
headquarters said that 5 had been seen roosting in a tree on Bowles
Rd.
for the past few days, and also that a couple of very light colored

flamingos had been spotted in the same area.
