[Birdtalk] New Natl. Geo Guide

I've taken the new National Geographic guide out for a spin and have a few observation for other would-be buyers:
1) In most respects the new guide is indeed an improvement, especially with new species peppered in with the old stuff. (This includes my favorite addition, a couple more subspecies in the Canada goose/Cackler complex, which is now shown split out. However, even this new guide doesn't show a complete overview of this confusing complex--grrr.)
2) The guide itself is a bit wider, thus making an already fairly wide guide even less of a "pocket guide", so be prepared to either buy clothes with big pockets or to schlep a bird purse with you.
3) The little tabs are annoying to those who like to flip-search through a guide with the sliding thumb method, like me.
It's always nice to have as many references as one can afford/carry, so I am pleased to have one more.
Happy identifications,
David
