It always happens when the webmaster is away (not that he could do anything about it)!
I had a great few days in the St. George area and found two lifers for Utah! (Costa's Hummingbird and Brown-crested Flycatcher) It was great!
My heart sunk when I saw all the junk on the BirdTalk. What a contrast to the real joys of birding.
There is a lot of wisdom and good advice that has been posted about the matter so it looks like we're getting back on track. I think patience and ignoring the "junk" is something you have to do in a free society. I'm always impressed with how much good stuff we have on on the Utah bird hotlines and how well people handle the offensive material that shows up now and then.
I'm trying to take care of the situation, but it's pretty hard to prevent inappropriate things from showing up and still have an open and quick communication about birds in Utah. I think we have a great group of people that contribute to the e-mail hotlines. I've enjoyed that very much. Thanks to all.
I appreciate your patience and support -- good birding,
Milt Moody

P.S. I didn't particularly want to continue the "discussion," but I had quite a few comments and request, so I figured I ought to let you know I'm here on the job trying to do what I can. I DID put in a couple of sightings in so I'd be more in the real spirit of the BirdTalk! ~ MGM
