When I first started birding I was surprised there wasn't a phone number you
could dial to report sightings or listen to reports that had been added that
day. A lot of people are out birding when something good is reported and by
the time they get home, it's too late to check out the sighting.
Is there some way we could all chip in for the cost of a phone access and
the ability to listen to and record messages, or has this been tried
already? Or is it not feasible for some reason? A lot of us don't have
other birders phone numbers or don't feel right calling if there's some
doubt as to what we've seen. Leaving your last name and initials after the
call could add credence to the validity of the message. Any crank calls
could also be deleted.
