I met Kris Purdy on the Causeway at noon. Lots of Black-bellied Plovers way off the north side and some other tiny things too far to be ID'ed. I went onto the island, and when I returned at 2 p.m. to a spot 100 yards west of the 6 MP, the birds were much closer -- about 150 yards north of the road. Again, numerous Bl-bellieds were seen, and interspersed with them were the 4 Red Knots in breeding plumage that the Beyers had reported yesterday. The Dunlins may have yet been present but were way off to the north still.
